The National Book Critics Circle Awards Ceremony

Each year, the National Book Critics Circle presents awards for the finest books published in English in six categories: Fiction, Nonfiction, Biography, Autobiography, Poetry, and Criticism. In addition, they award the John Leonard Prize for the best first book in any genre; the Nona Balakian Citation for Excellence in Reviewing; and the Ivan Sandrof Lifetime Achievement Award and Toni Morrison Achievement Award. Beginning in 2023, they’ll award the Gregg Barrios Book in Translation Prize, for the best book of any genre translated into English and published in the United States.

Cost: Entry is a $60 donation for NBCC members and $80 donation for non-members. Additional donation at checkout is welcomed.

ABOUT NBCC

The National Book Critics Circle, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, was founded in 1974 at the Algonquin Hotel by a group of the most influential critics of the day and awarded its first set of honors the following year. Comprising more than 600 working critics and book-review editors throughout the country, the NBCC annually honors the best books published in the United States and bestows several other special prizes. The finalists for the awards are nominated, evaluated and selected by the elected Board of Directors.
